Update of 27 Oct 2026
Board Meeting Eastern stairs Outcome: Despite vigorous discussion and a presentation by Andrew, local resident, the Board rubber stamped the removal of the Eastern stairs, approved planting for stabilization and the erection of security fencing to prohibit public access. Special note: It was revealed at no point information was passed to Pacific Parade residents. Costings, and Report were never made available to the public for discussion Regardless, today the Board still approved removal of the stairs. It’s very disappointing that Pacific Parade residents, who are the most affected by this decision, weren’t informed or given the chance to see the report and costings before the board voted. A decision about a public asset that matters this much to our community deserved proper consultation. I’ll be keeping this in mind when it comes to voting in the next local board elections. I hope the board will do better on the western slip and the clifftop walk by keeping residents informed and involved from the start. Thank you very much, Andrew and Steve, for all your time and effort.
Steve & Andrew appreciate your commitment & time to speak for us at the meeting! The board are elected to represent us yet seems in this case they took no time to ask or listen to what matters to Pacific Parade residents. The west side cliff stairs and the reserve walkway in front of us here are important to most of us. This requires careful consideration by the board with community discussion. Important points for the walkway. 1. No predator trapping or baiting is happening at present on the specifically closed areas of the walkway. This will be having an impact. 2. Who is mowing the grass areas of the closed areas? Summer is on its way. That grass height will reach high levels. Will this not be considered a fire risk throughout our summer? Some thoughts.
