Complaints and takedowns
If something on this site harms you, tell us. We'll act quickly and tell you what we did.
Everyone who posts agrees to our house rules and terms. Here's what to do if something breaks them, or harms you.
Reporting a post or comment
Members can use the Report button on any post or comment. It's hidden straight away until a moderator reviews it.
Making a formal complaint
Anyone — member or not — can complain under the Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015. Email [email protected] with:
- a link to the content, or a description of where it is,
- why you believe it's harmful or unlawful,
- your name and a way to contact you (you can ask us to keep your details private from the author).
What we do next
- We acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours.
- We contact the author within 48 hours of receiving it, tell them about the complaint and give them 48 hours to respond.
- If the author agrees, or doesn't respond, we remove the content. If they object, we tell you and you can apply to Netsafe or the District Court.
- Content that is clearly harmful — threats, intimate images, personal addresses — is removed immediately while we look into it.
You can also contact Netsafe for help.
Appeals
If your post was removed or your account suspended and you think that's wrong, email the same address and an admin who wasn't involved will review it.
